I was shocked upon seeing the headline of the Philippine Daily Inquirer this morning.

Ati-atihan Festival Turns Bloody
Cop kills 2 superiors, 4 others after Mass

Six people were dead, including a 10-year-old girl, and many were wounded. (for the story)

I was listless for a moment. I could not believe how such terrible thing could happen in a very religious celebration.

Yearly, this festival draws thousands of local and foreign tourists. But after this incident, many fear that it could affect the image of Aklan and the Ati-Atihan. Pero naniniwala ako na makakabangon ang Aklan.. Naniniwala ako na many would still dream of visiting it to join the feast.. and I'm one of those people.

*sigh* Hanggang ngayon, nalulungkot pa rin ako sa nangyari.. Let us pray for those people who were wounded, for their fast recovery.
